59Today was different
So different from the day before
The day was bright
The cold sun shone
For a change I felt like smiling
My cat Sid was lying in a patch of sun
The room was full of color
It was different today
So different than it had been before
Today I didn’t mind
Looking out my window
Sid laying in what he must think
Is a window display
Toasting in the rays of the sun
The frosty snow all aglitter
The icicles dripping drop by drop
Winter birds on the wing
Swinging from branches still bare
Today was different
So different than the days before
Must capture this in my mind
Before the days become
Dark and dreary
Making me all teary

It's lovely when, even just briefly in winter, we're reminded of the life and warmth of spring and summer - the sunshine, the birds. You capture this beautifully here. It's so very cold here now that any even small amount of sun is great. Sid is always looking for sun patches to lie in. A day like this really gives one pleasure since most of the days are dark.

Reminds me of this morning. I was standing and waiting for the school bus with my daughter - freezing and watching my breath appear when I exhaled. All of a sudden a cloud moved and the sun hit me right in the face - it felt so warm and bright. My mood instantly brightened with it :) Lovely poem.
Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting Lord and Ardie. With the awful temperatures in the minuses every ray of sun helps. I just noticed this morning that yesterday a strong and bright sun shone and it felt warm and made you forget about the cold. Today there is only a hazy sun in the sky that doesn't really shine through and it is absolutely freeeeezing.
First of all, I'm in love with Sid. Tell me why, as I was reading this I was humming a broadway tune. "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow"...Thanks for an uplifting, positive hub.

Thanks a lot for your positive comment Ann. Yeah, Sid is such a handsome darling. We adopted him from the local animal rescue and can you imagine some idiots had thrown him out into the streets. Go figure. He's lying beside me by the comp now and I told him about your compliment and I do believe he's a bit vain cause he started purring. lol Glad you mentioned that song. Yes I could have been singing it and dancing about my room that day. lol
